Project manager and landscape designer
Organising:
- Help assigning roles and making sure everyone understood their tasks.
- Tim, Scott and myself made a timetable to note project progress.
- Initiate the use of Bim within the group by giving log on instructions. At first there was a little bit of confusion on the way Bim worked within Archicad, through trial and error/some consultation with my tutor this was clarified.

Reflection:
As project manager it was my responsibility to organise the group and make sure there was complete understanding on the roles of each group member. Through speaking with the tutors key questions were clarified this ensured the project could be started. This information was passed onto the group through the blog and a timetable were made to give each member deadlines of their task. I was organised in solving key issues surrounding the use of bim and a good foundation was made to start the project.
Design Collaboration:
- Researched precedent landscapes and pool designs, from this posted my influences and some preliminary ideas onto the blog to get feedback from the rest of my group.
- Collaborated with Noah Shirley in coming up with a conceptual design for the pool.
- Collaborated with Tim Blakeway to get a schematic scheme for the landscape and pool design. Posted sketches plans onto the blog to make sure the whole group understands the design, and can make a contribution.
Reflection:
This stage of design focused on integrating personal design
ideas into the greater scheme of the House. Effective communication was made
between each group member via the blog where ideas were bounced off each other. My collaboration with Noah was important in coming up on the final design, also making sure this scheme worked with Tim's plans was also important and well integrated. I was a valuable team member because my personal ideas did not rule the design but the ideas suggested by the group.
Finalising the Bim model:
- After the design was finalised within the group, changes were made to the BIM model. At first Scott Terry and I had some trouble sending and releasing information within Bim, through collaboration this problem was overcome. This allowing us to pass on this information to other group members to avoid future confusion.
- The pool was moved to a different location and made with a complex profile
- The timber decking redesigned to integrate the pool, outdoor area and pool house
- Planter boxes were located for privacy, trees were planted
- Noah and I built the elevated driveway.
- Checked progress on the presentation drawings and made sure the submission requirements were understood.
Reflection:
My final role was to make changes to the Bim model. At first there was some confusion with Scott Terry on how to receive and release our changes with Bim, however this was overcome. As project manager I took the responsibility to solve issues with the Bim model. Furthermore, I made changes to the pool and decking whilst adding planter boxes for privacy. Also, collaborating via Facebook Noah and I built the elevated driveway. My Bim implementation was effective as I was well organised finishing the 3d model giving the 2d presentation a week to be completed. As project manager I also made sure Luke, Scott and Tim were finished there 3D modelling giving the 2d presentation plenty of time for completion. Also, made sure that the group understood the submission.
